Baby Animals!!!!

Sorry it has been so long.
I broke (more like shattered) my right wrist just over 8 weeks ago and typing with my left is not easy.  It is still healing, the little pieces take longer to heal I am told.  I have started to be able to move my hand, but am not supposed to use it.

The hard part is I am right handed, surprising how you can't do the little things!
Also try using a computer mouse with the wrong hand, I still have to be careful not to click something and delete or change it (have done that a few times already!)
And most of the games I play, can't because they are timed and can't move mouse fast enough!

But I just had to post these pictures I took Saturday Aug. 16, 2014 at a local pet store.
Been waiting two weeks to take these, here are a few.

A black Lemur (full grown)
 A baby Arctic Fox
and I got to pet him!

 Baby Kangaroo

 Ring-tailed Lemur
Check out his tail!
 With a Lynx cub

 And a baby Squirrel Monkey!
This little guy's tail is so long!

I hope you enjoyed my pictures!

See you soon!

Remember to be kind, and help others, even all our animal friends.

Now that truly is a Big Bike!!!! ;)

Every year The Heart and Stroke Foundation raises money in a unique way.

I am lucky and have been able to see it from my apartment every year!
This year decided to share some videos and pictures.

Now every time the Bike goes around there is a different business or group of people on it.
It holds 30 riders, peddling.
It is something to see!
And looks like a lot of fun!

Read here for more information on the Big Bike:

So here are the videos (2 of them)
and some pictures.

(posted videos on YouTube, once it is finished editing will put them here)

Neat bike ah?
And it runs, rain or shine.
Will see you soon!

Have a great long weekend to all my Canadian viewers!

5 Seconds can save your life! Everyone should do it!

Okay, normally I stick up for the little person,
but saw something tonight just couldn't believe.

Now this might make some people pissed off at me,
but if you think about it,
I would not be writing this if one person took 5 seconds to do something.

Years ago I was taught always to make sure what you are receiving is actually yours.
After all, we are human and humans make mistakes.

Was watching the news tonight (by accident),
just finished watching a show on the DVR and it stopped before I could delete.
And there was this news story on about a drug store.
I actually watched this one story at least 4 times.
(kept rewinding it)
Could not believe what I was seeing!

At first I thought that someone screwed up really bad,
put the wrong prescription in the wrong blister.

That is why I kept rewinding it.
That is not what happened.
I went on line and found the video.
Here is the video and a link to it.

This couple is suing for millions of dollars,
because one of them took medication from someone else's blister
for days!

Here is a picture of a blister pack.
This is not shoppers,
but blister packs have a side with the list of meds and the patients name:
In the video it shows you their blister and you can see the label on it.

I can see the repercussions already.
This happened in Ontario.
People are pissed off when they are asked for
ID when they pick up narcotics or tax receipts.
What will happen when every thing you pick up you have to show your ID?

Their excuse is that they thought that when the bag was scanned that their name comes up.
They took the bag home, without checking the label on the bag.
I deal with this drug store, I get my meds from there.

Each bag has a receipt in it (and on it).
On the receipt inside, it has your name, address and a list of your drugs
(which you should put in your wallet in case you ever go to the hospital) ,
pretty sure the name and address is on the bag as well (in case it has to be delivered).
The blister/bottle also has your name on it.

If it doesn't have your name on it, why are you taking it?
If you see the pills and they don't look like what you normally take---
don't take them!
They said that there was new pills in the blister,
why did they not check what and when they are to be taken.
This is something that they should have checked.
But even is they did not want to,
they should have checked the name!

5 seconds to check the name.
2 Seconds to check the pills before you swallow them.
Is it to much time and effort to keep your self healthy?

With any medication you take you should always check the label,
for the directions, precautions and the drug's name,
and yours as well.

Most people will stop taking drugs, or at least contact their pharmacist or doctor
if they are having unpleasant side effects
(things that should have been discussed before the pills were taken),
I mean this man was not in the best of health,
he should have inquired about possible side effects.
In fact when I get a new prescription the drug store puts an information
sheet inside the bag about the drug, it also has my name on it, right at the top.
If you don't get one, ask for it.

A little time would have saved these people a lot of problems.
Sure the drug store is at fault for giving you the wrong bag,
but it is your responsibility to make sure you know what you are taking
and what you are taking is yours.

I really hope that they do not get millions for this.
They do not deserve it.

I do think though that maybe they should have a nurse,
or someone in their home to dispense their medication
since they have proven they can not do it themselves responsibly.

I myself would be a little embarrassed to go on the news to tell this story and announce that I am suing.
I probably would have done it only
to make people aware of the dangers of not paying attention.
To warn people to do what they should always
check the name and directions, possible side effects to the drugs you are taking.
To always check that you are picking up what is yours.
To not take something unless you know exactly what you are taking.
I would not be blaming the drug store.
Not when there is someone else name on it!

It is like calling the hydro company and complaining that
your bill is to high, than realizing that it has someone else's name on it.

But the result of all this?
Think about it the next time you are asked for ID when picking up a prescription.

I am sick of Winter!

I was working on another blog for someone
and realized that I had to get rid of the winter photos on my blog.
I have to think Spring!

So hope you like the new look.
I wanted something pretty and cheerful.

I always use my on photos.
I took these ones last year,
and believe it or not they were taken inside!

Here is a few more I took at the same time.

On another happy note:

I got a call today.
24 hours after dropping off my glasses to get replaced.
I can see, they got the new frames and put in the lens in less than 24 hours!
Really thought I would have to wait til Friday maybe even Monday.
What a pleasant surprise!

Well I have to go,
see you soon.

Remember to do something nice for someone your know
or even someone you don't.
Kindness is catchy.
Maybe we can start an epidemic!

How much is one human life worth? $12?

Was not sure where I should post this.
Decided here would work.

Please bare with me, I broke my glasses so I may miss spelling errors (or chose the wrong word to fix, great app but not when you have trouble seeing LOL).

Anyways, lately we have been hearing about many accidents, plane gone missing, ferry tipping over, bombs going off, natural disasters... you get the picture.
Today saw something that tore my heart out.
Worse is that today was the first I have heard of it.
It is acts and thinking like this that is destroying our world.
As long as people treat others as possessions, things to be sold, raped or killed,
our world has no chance.

If we turn away from these acts,
ignore them,
they will keep happening.
How many young people do we need to lose before
the world opens their eyes?
Stands up and makes these people accountable?

I don't understand why this was not all over the news when it happened.

Why no international effort for 200 kidnapped girls?

Selling them for as little as $12.
Because they dared to get educated?
From what I read, they don't want people to learn,
not just the girls but everyone.
Bet they are educated, some of them anyways.
They want to bring us back to the dark ages.
No medicine, no clean water or air,
no better ways to farm.
And that is just the basics.

We need to stop these people.
All of them.
Not just this group,
but any that takes our children!
They are our future!
Don't these people realize that what they are doing,
will not get them what they want.
A simpler world, one without computers and equal rights,
a world that died hundreds of years ago.
Even that world was not perfect.
Sickness, superstition, war.
They want to go back to a time when diabetics died,
epileptic's were consider insane or possessed.
When people died more from a cure than the sickness itself.
Where there was no birth control, incubators and vaccines.
A time when rape, abuse and murder where considered a part of normal life.
When will these people realize that it did not work in the past,
and will not in the future.
We need a new world, one where everyone is equal,
has the right to learn, does not fear walking down the street or
speaking their mind.
We need a world where heath care is for everyone and
reaching for the stars is the norm.

I believe that people should have the right to choice.
People like these kidnappers, terrorists are forcing their beliefs.
That is not right!
Gather them up, give them an island,
but nothing else:
no modern things, computers, cars. tractors, phones, medicine.
No boats, gas, hammers nothing.
Tell them they can not leave the island and can not contact the outside world.
Make it illegal to trade with them.
Only people allowed on the island our those that believe as they do.
No one is allowed to leave ever.
Maybe in a couple hundred years check on them.
See if they still believe like the original occupants.
If they have built a perfect world, don't bother them.
I would be surprised if they are still alive.

Well gotta go.
Work tomorrow morning.

Here are some links to check out about the girls.
Remember to do something nice for someone!

Do You Cringe When The Phone Rings?

I know that sounds like a weird questions,
but is it?

In today's world most have phones on them all the time.
The invention of the "cell" phone is looked at as a blessing and a curse.
They try and make new laws, such as, the "Do Not Call" list etc,
but does it work?

If you call a 1-800 number or enter a contest, were/are a customer, they have the right to call.
Religious and other charities also are exempt from this rule.
Worse yet if you are Canadian, you are mandated to participate in phone surveys by the government.
The last one I know from experience.
I got calls from a number I did not know, so was not answering them.
After a while (the calls never stopped)
I found a letter on my apartment door (I live in a secure building).
The envelope said that I was chosen to do a 6 month census on working.
It also said that I had no choice in the matter, it was mandatory,
and I was legally obliged to do it (even if I didn't work!)
So for 6 months I had to answer their questions on the phone once a month
and give them the information they required.

Anyways this is not what this post is about.
This is about crank and spam calls.

Everyone gets them.
People asking for donations or trying to sell something.

Of course there is the people trying to scam you,
Hay you won money or a relative died, all we need is you to send us
$$$ and we will send you money back.
Sadly people fall for this.

Now they have "Windows people" calling telling you your PC is downloading
to much and that it has a virus!
Yep people fall for it!
Yea Microsoft is going to call you, you are that important!
Give me a break.  At least 7 different numbers have called my regular phone.
Each time I tell them I am reporting them, and I do, every time.
Last time got smart, let them talk for at least a minute,
long enough for a good trace.
The number on my phone said 6-137-010-5010.
Will keep doing that every time they call
(if they are stupid enough to waste their time on me).

Still not the point of this post.
The point is calls coming from out of the country to my cell phone.

I report all spam or dead air calls to my carrier and on line at 800notes,
White Pages (for American phone calls) and White Pages for Canadian numbers.
You can also do a reverse phone # look up on the white pages sites.
Will give you carrier of last time the phone number was legally used and the location.

You will be given the option to report the number, do it.

In the last three days I have been receiving calls to my new phone (one I got for a friend).
The first one actually said
"Don't hang up, I have your plate number and know where you are
right now."
This number was 607-724-9716, a Verizon number from the USA.

Today got 3 different calls Monday night(tonight),
one minute apart, from three different phone numbers.
630-933-9463 and
And the third was also a Verizon number

I have a plan that has unlimited calling,
I feel sorry for those who get these kind of calls and have
a limited amount of  call time.

Sure it is easy to not answer,
but sometimes you don't think twice when answering the phone.
Now I no longer answer an out of country call or any call with unknown name,
or  private number.  If I can not see a phone number, no chance I am answering it.
Even says that on my voice message!

With today's technology you would think that there would be a way to stop these calls.
I mean some of these numbers have been in use a long time. proves that.
Can't they write a program? Maybe one that they can add phone numbers too,
and trace the location and/or stop the number from calling anyone.
Maybe make it mandatory to have a registered phone number to call anywhere.
No more throw away phones.
Make it so if a number can not be traced to a owner than it can not make a phone call.
Maybe they need to find a more secure way to use internet calling,
something tells me a lot of these calls are coming from people using the internet.

Call your phone company and ask it they have a trace number
you can use right after you receive a unwanted call.

I know my phone company does.  I use it after every call I get that is a scam or dead air.
Use it when you get one of these calls.
Record the number and register it on 800notes and the WhitePages USA and WhitePages CANADA.
Also put it on any other site you find.

Maybe if everyone starts complaining and reporting these call, blocking these calls,
one day the phone companies will realize that they need to do something,
that governments and police agencies will make laws they can enforce
to stop these people.

One way the phone companies could help us would allow every phone,
land-line and cell, unlimited block list.
If they keep getting blocked maybe they will give up.

Next time you get one of these calls think of this:
The next person they call may be a senior or someone who does not realize
that they are scammers.  These people may lose money they can't afford to lose.
Not everyone is smart enough to realize they are being cheated.

The sad part about many of these phone scams?
These same people who ripped someone off will call that person back
a few months later claiming they took over the company and realize that the
old owners were ripping people off.
Than say for a fee we can straighten everything out and have your money returned
plus the money originally offered.
This will be repeated as long as they think they can get away with it.

So please report all phone calls, warn those you know not to fall for any of the scams out there.
Do not ever send money to get money or a car etc.
Do  not go to your computer, sign on to it
and give permission for anyone to remotely access your computer
to 'fix' or 'check' it.
Never give personal information out over the phone,
no credit card number, passwords, social security number,
social insurance number and do not answer personal questions of any kind unless you
know exactly who you are talking too.
Phones are the easiest way to steal.
A little information can go a long way for a criminal.

So be careful!

Well I have to go,
lots of things to do yet.
Talk to you all soon!

Will you be wearing pink today?

How will you be showing your support towards stopping bullying?

Today is February 26, 2014 and it is pink shirt day!
Show your support against bullying.

I know that most think of kids on days like today,
but I would like to point out that kids are not the only victims.

It is sad that we need a day like this,
but if it helps to spread the word to stop this crime than I am all for it.
I believe we should always help those that are being bullied.
Young or old.
Every day of the year!

Lately I have been hearing a lot about seniors and/or disabled
being bullied into paying more for services etc.

I have to tell you this one, you would not believe that they get away with this but they do.
A neighbor of mine went to the drugstore about two weeks ago.
I did not find out until Friday what happened.
She went to pick up the vaccine for Shingles (a painful illness you would not want to wish on anyone)
She is a senior and in a wheel chair.
She has to pay for the vaccine because it is not covered by the seniors medical plan offered by the government here (actually the government does not pay for the shot for anyone that I know of.)

Anyways, most drugstores do not carry this vaccine because of it's expense
and that it has to be stored properly in a fridge.
Her drugstore got her the vaccine under the condition she picks it up as soon as it came in and
take to the doctor so he could give it to her.
Perfectly logical thinking.
The drugstore offered to and got the shot for her.
The problem came when she went to go to the doctor.
Now not many people here know this but seniors get a discount when they take a taxi.
When the meter is put on the driver is supposed to hit a button for the senior discount.
The drugstore is across the street from where I live
and her doctor is a half a block down the street from where I work.
It costs me approx. $18.00 to take a taxi to work (why I don't normally take one),
but I have taken a taxi about 4 times in the last year.

She called Grand Taxi (here in Welland, Ontario) to pick her up at the drugstore
and take her to her doctor.
She has a wheel chair so she needed a special car, well van actually.
It usually costs $5.00 extra for a wheelchair transport.
When she got in the taxi, the driver told her that the meter did not work.
Than she was told that it would cost $40.00 for the ride that costs me $18.00.
She said she couldn't afford $40 and in the end they charged her $35.
They knew she needed the ride, she had no choice.
She just spent $175. on the vaccine and had to go to the doctors before the shot turned.

They bullied her!
Not only did they not have a working meter (so that she could get the seniors discount)
but they outright lied on how much it would cost to get to where she was going.

The most it should have cost her without the discount was $23.00.
She lives on a fixed income.

So today don't just think about the kids, think about others being bullied!

I got these so that everyday I think about it
and to remind others to think about it as well!

So if you can wear Pink today!

Humanity. Does it exist?

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I know it is a little late, but as they say better late than never.

I had a blog planned for today but of course news got in the way.

Sochi, of course.

Over the last month or so have been hearing horror stories coming out of that country.

Human rights violated, people not getting paid, abuses and deported without pay.

Than all this talk about terrorism.

Even if only half of what I heard is true, why are they allowed to have the Olympics there?
Is this the kind of things we want to promote?
I mean the next host will believe they can get away with what ever they want,
I mean why not, Sochi did!

I am not a sports person but I do understand why they have the Olympics.
But there should be some ground rules for the host of the games.
If you are spending millions of dollars, make sure you can afford it.
Don't hire people you can not pay.
Do not dictate to the world who can or cannot come to the games.
If you are violating human rights, the game should be postponed or even cancelled
until another location can be found.

I always thought the Olympics was to help bring the world together,
to celebrate those athletes who are in the top of their field.
What it really is, is a way to prove to the world how much money you can spend.
To out do the last country.

I think from now on which ever country hosts the Olympics,
there should be some rules.

Instead of allowing each country to design their own stadiums etc. there should be a uniform
blueprint/layout, to be used for each country.
(Just think how much money can be saved when it is your turn to host again)
A budget that is approved ahead of time, and proof the moneys are there to pay the bills.
If the country can not afford to build, than they should not even be considered.

Or maybe find an island, suitable for the winter Olympics,
make it international - run by reps from each country.
Each country to build one event arena, be responsible for the upkeep.
Or pool the money and have a group responsible for the upkeep of the island.
Better yet, use the island for all international events.
No more competing for who is better.

Now I have felt this way for awhile (actually thought it would be better not to even have the Olympics).
Not all countries are involved with this and other events.
So it is not really a world competition.

All I could think about lately when I think of the Olympics is what a waste of money the event is.
How some people can get away with breaking so many laws/rights
and still have people flocking to their country.

I no longer care at all about the Olympics.
I do not care who wins.
I do not care how many medals each country gets.

The last straw was something I saw today on one of the blogs I follow.
It actually made me cry, and upset me because I did not know this was happening, or trust me this post would have been written long ago.
You might think "What this upsets her?"
Yes it does, but it proves that this country does not have respect for life in any form.
If this was put out there a year ago, and kept in the news
Sochi would never had a chance to break so many laws and hurt so many people.

The way I see it, this Olympics is Sochi should have never happened.
This was pointed out a year ago.
Killing animals without mercy, animals that were abandoned.
After the first reports were confirmed about the human rights breech,
the Olympics should have been moved or cancelled.

I am ashamed I even listened to any part of the games.

To me all this proves is that fame and money are more important to humans
than human or animal life.
I know no one is perfect, I certainly am not.
No country is perfect, no matter where you live, you know that too.

But I really thought that there was a spark of respect for others including animals.
Maybe I am talking to a brick wall, that I really can't change things,
but I truly hope that I at least touch one person out there
who finds this as appalling as I do.

This does prove that in this day and age,
that countries and people all around the world
feel like they can do what they want to anyone or anything
and be able to get away with it.

Hay why not, Sochi did, and look at all the countries that went and competed anyways.

A whole WEEK off!!!!

Well it looks like I will get a whole week off!
I worked yesterday (Monday) and I do not go back until Feb 18, 2014!
I am more of less caught up on my house work
(just basic stuff like vacuuming and dusting, general straightening up).

So now I can get more work done on my blogs and work on the course I am taking.
Actually that is why I did not sign up for anything this year.
I am going to still read (will never stop that!)
I will be updating my blog "My Books and Reading" and will add titles and comments when I finish each book (that is one of the goals I set for myself.)

So later today will get a chance to catch up on some of the blogs I follow and check out Google+ (I really miss the nice pictures and stuff I find there.)

But for now I just wanted to say HI!

And share a couple of pictures of Little Boy (one of my cats).
When I started typing he would not leave me alone, he wants to play.

Surprised I got any pictures that were clear!

And not to be out done, the other 3 decided they wanted attention too!
First Foxy.

Then Sweetie.

Poor Baby had no room to go the table.

and what did Little Boy think?
I think he was a little mad.
He was still on the table behind my monitor!

Well must go get some sleep.
See you all later!

Well went to make an appointment to get my new tattoo, got lucky and did not have to wait!

I did not get it from Sasha this time but from Kyle also at Sleeepy Hollow Studios.

And instead of getting 1, I got all 3!
So I am balanced again! LOL!

Anyways here are the pictures of the tattoos.
Remember they are only about 8 hrs old.
They will look real nice once healed.
This one went on the top of my left lower arm.
This one went on the inside of my left lower arm.
And this one went on the inside of my right lower arm.

I love them!

One left to get, but that wont be for awhile.
And that one will hurt a bit, for sure.

Well have to work tomorrow, and still have a few things to do before bed,

See you all soon!
Remember, enjoy the little things in life, they can bring much happiness!
